Content DescriptionReturn to Top

The collection includes a letter from Samuel Headrick, sheriff of Marion County, Oregon, to Governor Addison C. Gibbs on May 16, 1865. The letter relates to the custody of George Beale and George Baker, who were arrested for the murder of Daniel Delaney on January 9, 1865 and hanged on May 17, 1865. Also included are a letter from Samuel Headrick to Mrs. Headrick on August 25, 1867 from Albany, Oregon during a fishing trip. Finally there is a letter from George W. Case to his sister on September 17, 1977, describing conditions in Eugene and at the University of Oregon.

The photographs include two portraits of Samuel Headrick and one of Mrs. Headrick. On the back is the inscription "My Mother, at the age of fourteen - taken in her wedding gown, before marriage to Sam Headrick. G.B.B."
