Historical Note
The National Civil Service Reform League was established in 1881 to encourage efficiency in federal, state, and local government. The league, which was founded before the Civil Service Commission, concentrated on personnel problems and policies of the federal government.
Content Description
The National Civil Service Reform League records contains the league's correspondence, texts of officer's speeches, and scrapbooks. Also included are reports and documents concerning league finances, appointments, political party platforms, and fundraising.
