Historical Note

Sidney Towne (1908-1970) taught journalism courses at New York University and served as a faculty member for 22 years. Between 1927 and 1948, Towne worked for The Philadelphia Record, The Philadelphia Public Ledger, The New York Journal-American, The White Plains Reporter-Dispatch. During the summers, he wrote news stories for the Columbia Broadcasting System.
