Content Description
The Camp Kearns photograph collection was received from an anonymous donor by the Weber County Library in 1989 and donated to the University of Utah. Unfortunately, we have no details about how the collection came to be. The collection depicts life in the U.S. Air Force Camp Kearns in the Salt Lake Valley during World War II. The majority of the collection is dedicated to the various professional and amateur entertainers who performed for the soldiers. One notable photograph is of Bing Crosby and Bob Hope, though it is unclear whether they are in Utah. Little information is known about the camp and Kearns during this time.
Note: The city of Kearns, Utah began as an Air Force base for the United States. (The printed register states Camp Kearns as an Army camp. It was later corrected as an Air Force Base during WWII.)
