Content Description

Portraits of a Swedish immigrant family. The portraits were originally together in an album. The cabinet card photographs which are the earlier images, range from about the 1860s to around the 1880s or early 1890s. They were all made in Sweden. The family probably emigrated to Minneapolis, MN because many of the cabinet card portraits were made there. Five cabinet cards were made in Seattle which is probably where someone in the family finally settled. The Seattle photographers mainly were in business during the early 1890s and early 1900s so the Seattle photographs were most likely made in the mid-to late 1890s. None of the people are identified except one of the portraits from Sweden is identified as Mrs. G. Johnsten.
