Historical Note

The President's Lecture Series was established at the University of Montana in 1987 by the administration of University President James Koch. Sponsored by the Office of the President, the intention of the series was to bring respected and engaging speakers to the University of Montana. Originally, there were six speakers a year who each presented an academic lecture. As of 2017, the series schedules ten speakers an academic year. The presentations are free and open to the public. Lecturers include diplomats, musicians, biologists, theologians, authors, historians, and social scientists who address important and timely topics within their area of expertise.
