Historical NoteReturn to Top

The Classified Staff Association (CSA) was established in 1980 by Kacey Cooper and others to address various issues raised by classified staff at Washington State University. The issues addressed by this association included, among others, emergency pay in the face of closures, poor communication, and clear definitions on job descriptions put out by the University. In late 1982, CSA merged with the Washington Federation of State Employees Local 1066 chapter.

Arrangement

Materials were left primarily in the chronological order in which they were received, though some reorganization was done. Some material dates may overlap as reorganizing them risked losing context while adding minimal research value.

Acquisition Information

This material was transferred to WSU Libraries' MASC by Peggy Sweany, a Business Administration secretary, on July 05, 1983 and retained as MS1983-27. It was renumbered as UA1983-16 in Aug, 2018.

Processing Note

WSU student Steinar Goheen processed this collection in October 2024. Extra union pamphlets and duplicate papers were discarded.

Separated Materials

Materials pertaining to the Higher Education Personnel Board were sorted out during processing and offered to the Washington State Archives.
