Biographical Note
Franklin (Frank) Davis Thatcher was born on February 20, 1878, in Logan, Utah. His parents were John B. and Sarah Davis Thatcher. His mother raised him the majority of the time as his father lived with his first family in Idaho. Frank was schooled in Logan and attended the Agricultural College of Utah (now Utah State University) earning a certificate in mechanic arts and later a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture/Agronomy. He also received a Certificate of High School Grade authorizing him to teach in Utah public schools. He taught high school in Salt Lake City, Ogden, Logan, Pocatello and Richmond, and also mechanical arts at USU. It was here he met Hannah Mathews, a student from Benson. They married and had three sons, Theodore (Ted), Lynn, and David. Frank was a skilled carpenter, dog trainer, farmer, and also enjoyed photography. He and his wife purchased a home in River Heights in 1920 and lived there the majority of their married lives. He died on March 31, 1965, and was buried in the Logan City Cemetery.
