Historical Note
David D. Spitzer was a humanities professor at Miami-Dade Community College North who had a love for jazz. Between 1972 and 1989 Spitzer captured many fast-flash photos of famous jazz musicians during events. He had his photos featured in the Encyclopedia of Jazz, various journals, and major album covers during the 70s and 80s. Beginning in the mid-1980s he had his photos in several exhibitions. He has photographed some of the most celebrated jazz musicians of the day, included but not limited to: Oscar Peterson, Woody Herman, Miles Davis, and Dizzy Gillespie.
