Biographical Note

Karl Franz Koch, Sr., was born in 1888 in Sandusky, Ohio. He attended the Minneapolis School of Fine Arts and the New York School of Art. He came to Portland, Oregon, in the 1910s, where worked as head of the art department for the Portland branch of the Foster and Kleiser Company. After retiring from Foster and Kleiser in 1954, he established his own art studio as a freelancer. Koch was also a member of the Oregon Arts Association. He died in 1975.

Acquired between 1966 and 2009.

Processing Note

This drawing was initially held in the Architecture collection, Mss 1525, before being moved to Coll 142, Plans and drawings relating to public transportation in Oregon, in 2009. In October 2022, the drawing was separated from Coll 142 after it was determined to be outside the scope of that collection.
