Historical Note

George C. O'Neill (1921-1980) was a professor of anthropology, architectural engineer, and author. His wife, Nena (1923-2006), was also an anthropologist and popular writer. Together they published "Open Marriage" (1972) which was 40 weeks on the best-seller list and eventually sold millions of copies in numerous languages. They also wrote: "Shifting Gears" (1974) and " The Marriage Premise" (1977). George worked on projects in Chalco, Mexico and did some creative drawing and painting. Nena made a career in popular psychology, wrote numerous magazine articles, and gave interviews in the 1970s and 1980s.
