Historical Note

H. Leslie Parker was best known as the founder of the Big Muddy oil field in central Wyoming and as a pioneer in oil exploration in the Rocky Mountain region. He introduced new equipment to the petroleum mining field in Wyoming and helped construct the first producing oil well in Pilot Butte. Parker was one of the organizers of the Colorado Associated Oil Co. In 1953, he was elected president of the Pioneer Oil Men of the Rockies.
