Caption: Oct. 30. 1933. Make our last visit to Boeing Field and via G.N.R Northward to Vancouver Canada. So "Goodbye" to many people We leave our Friends Airplanes Bridge and "Solitaire".

Caption: Nov. 1933. At Vancouver Tom, Lillian + Dick Kimura comes to see uys at Mr. Oridos house Tom + Lil give us a Kodak so we take this first picture.

Caption: Nov. 1933 The "Bordeaux Maru" loads lumber. Leaving Vancouver and "Westward" we watch America disappear behind the horizon. Tears. and after a rough and stormy trip, up and down on big waves, arrive at Yokohama. Dec. 6. 1933. We snap this photo as we leave The ship. "SO JAPAN" Yokohama. Dec 6.

Caption: And a furious taxi ride to Tokyo. (or this way) [Japanese characters] to the house at 32. 4Chome Shimodori Shibuya-Ku. From upstairs King Kong sniffs the atmosphere. So this shot out front, Dec. 14th

Caption: Mother & I go visiting to Kansai. We stop at her "hometown" Tsu in Ise. At Sendoi-machi is Granmother and "Okah", Fathers sister. Grandmother at 86. Tsu. Dec 20th. Grandma is having her 'picture-taken'. We can read some Stations!

Caption: Mother and her elder Sister. In the background rests- A.M. Kashiwa. On the famous beach at Tsu. Mother contemplates taking a dip (?) Not such terrible crowds in Dec! Mother & her niece. Don't worry so much!

Caption: Dec. 22. Sendai-machi. Here rests sister "Yasuko." Our family tombstone. Space on this side reserved for my name! I like cauliflowers and chrysanthemums. Osaka Dec 22. We call on Mr. Teranishi and go to the Osaka Go. This large Castle is built of huge rocks, put up by sheer man-power, many years ago. It is nine stories high and has an Otis Elevator.

Caption: Osaka Dec. 23. We meet Kim Takehara and Mother Out shopping. Kim came over on "Hikawa Maru" with June last October. See what Japan does to these girls, wouldn't think she was American, but wait till you hear her speak Japanese! Took these snaps in front of Umeda Eki. Said "Goodbye" and took Hanque to Kobe. Met Frank Tomita there, visited Shinkaiko, dinner and took some pictues but blanks both times. and back to Osaka so we log- Kobe Dec 23.

Caption: Deep under Osaka we meet cousin T. Yamada, so we take the Shanque to picturesque Kyoto. So to the Imperial Gosho Park. May beautiful trees there, then up the hill to the famous Temples of [Japanese characters] Ha! You guess. Who doesn't know Japanese? In the sacred grounds of "Ag". (Atomic Weight 108).

Caption: Kyoto. Dec. 24. At the "Silver Shrine" we have our first picture taken. "Howdy!" Hot from Matsuzakaya. David Spencer coat. Then we go to Nara and see many deers, also- [drawing of temple bell] and [drawing of them at a large Buddha]. But the sun sets so home to TSU. Dec. 24.

Caption: Christmas Day 1933. Up early and to Yamada. The Ujui Bridge. May camera still works (remember Kyoto) Sh! about Nara. However, we venture on- "Bring em back Velox!" Dai Jingu. Mother snaps this as we "beautify" the Scenery. Shinnen Torii famous old landmark. How we wish were in Seattle what a lonely Dec 25!!!

Caption: Futami Dec 25. From Temples of Dai Jingu we go up Mt. Asama thus: [drawing of ascent] rather remniscent of Yesler Wag [Way]. Then over to Futamil. Onward to Nagoya (where we miss a train and have dinner) whence on [Japanese characters] which is shoe-ten to Tokyo. So "home" and some real coffee. [drawing with "Ginza"] Nagoya Dec 25. Tokyo Dec 26.

Caption: Taiyo. Tokyo Feb 3. We visit the "Ambitious Scholars" at Hongo-Ku. Studying about the [Japanese characters] that flitter around. [Japanese characters]? Ray Tominaga, Joe Hirabayashi. "The Three Muskateers" of Taiyo Kengokudan. Tad Ogami explains a sticker. Feb. 6th. Tad leaves aboard the Hikawa. "Gbye Pal!"

Caption: Yokohama April 9. Kim and Mother come to Tokyo. Are embarking for "Home" on 10th. So these prints of Kim's last evening in Nihon. At Omari Hotel Yokohama. We have dinner at Fujiya on Isezakucho, stroll around a bit--also walk the famous Bentendori, with its huge colorful crowds and gay shops. (?).

Caption: April 9 Yokohama. Back at the Hotel we talk till late. We wonder what "fate" has in store for us. When? -if we ever do- Will we meet again! We talk of old- [drawings] of nocternal dips at Mt. Baker. Essex! Of Mother. -of our CE.- The stay in Japan has been very beneficial to Kim. Her health & complextion perfect now. At Sakuragicho we say our final "Farewell" [Drawing of water droplets] Bombs. "Bon Voyage" Kim- Happy Days!! and so is life-.

Caption: Yokyo April 15 "Cherry Blossom Time" --so as per tradition we go see the Sakura [Japanese character]'s. Ueno Park & stone lanterns line the path to the Pagoda. The 'foreigners' are June and Eiko. ? Pardon! Eiko Kawasaki formerly Seattle and Fife.- Also Mr. Oyama of Ford Motor Co. who supplied out transportation a Chevrolet!

Caption: April 15. We see many people at Arakawa, Askayama and Ueno, many intoxicated with the "Beauty" of the Blossoms- but mostly on Sake! Holding up the Lantern. Protection from sunstroke of inense heat- the bumbershoot. (?)(?) Who is the most handsome feller? Hi- Hwya! NERTS.

Or think of- The Olympic! Nihon bashi, Shirokiya "Irrash shai mashi!" Fireproof. The Olympic where history is made- Herman eats(?) a 'half chicken." What did the "Taiyo Boys" do- and how! "That steak, boy, oh, boy, smack!"- Kay Toji.

Caption: Tokyo April '34. June takes this cock-eyed picture.- I mean the picture!! [unknown symbols] Hah, haw! Hee! hee!!! here's a close-up of Dot Kurokawa & June. Story.- One night we played bridge and Dot bid [diamond symbol]'s and doubled, well it was - - and -. Moral- 500 points!

Caption: Yokohama Aug 2 '34. "Sailing day/" Bon Voyage! to Dot Chizu Kurokawa with Daya Kawosaki. To bid farewell. [Japanese characters]- Dot Kurokawa, Four eyes, Eiko, Daiya Kawasaki. Just a ribbon of Paper, but longingly holding a last contact with Japan. It breaks- "goodbye!" The Hiye [Japanese character]. One by one, they said "Homeward" and so we are left to our "Solitude" and "thought."-

Caption: Suzaki Airport Tokyo. Oguri [drawing of cat] Air School. Pilot Tsukasawa and Mech. This "Avro" was build during latter part of World War (1916) is now the "standard" training ship in Japan. It was a good airplane- "18 yrs ago." Once again we spread our "Wings." After being "on ground" nearly 10 months we fly this first airplane in Japan- a "Rotary" Le Rhone. Avro 504K. Aug 5, 1934.

Caption: Aug 7-11. '34. We go to Karuizawa in Shinshi and stop at Fujiya Hoel with Kai (James) Nokabayashi and Ray Tominaga. Downstairs Ray James agents sell "Victor Records" and "Health" magazines. On the Main Street. We stop traffic--mostly bicycle to photograph. Mr. K. Nakasawa (curio store) Ray Warren Munsinmire Little cousin Kai. Super Salesmen. Across the street. Cheap Sale!!

Aug 9. '34. At Karuizawa- We toddle up to "Betso" No. 169, to say "Hello" to Mr. Hyuga. (Some distant connection by kin.) Mrs. Hyuga and two nieces. House guests at the "Summer" villa. We have lunch of Suki Yaki then play "Trump" wherein I walk off with all the honors--and the Booby Prize! We ride bicycles--10 sen. 1 hour.

Takes flying at the Nippon Air Schoo, H Yaneda. August. '34.

Caption: Tokoyo Suzaki Airport. Sept. 20. Comes a big wind, blows the hangar down busiting up the airplanes. 6 hangars go over squashing 18 ships. At the Oguri Air School the Avro has it's wings broke. The Salmson is washed out. Had been flying in both ships. Osaka badly damaged by same wind. Salmson light bomber. 230H.P. water cooled 9 cyl. radial motor. 1918. No stabilizer or fin.

Tokyo 9:12:13. At Meiji Shrine. Taka-chan, Tommy Takenaga, Tommy's Brother, and Mrs. Takenaga. Tom has been to Fukui Ken his brother is from Kyoto. We meet Koi Nakabayashi at the dock. George Kasano comes to Tokyo with us. Yokohama. Dec 15th. Once again "Bon Voyage." Tommy goes back to Seattle and "Jackson Service".

Caption: Pt. Hope Alaska. Dec. 1933. The entire white population turn out to have their picture taken- both the Missionary and the school teacher. The "Travelari 6000" breaks the Oleo strut and laid up. In this building repairs, -20C. Moral- you can't walk home. Thanks Harry Nelson.
