Historical Note
Louis Wilbur Adams was born in 1933 and is a member of the Confederated Salish-Kootenai Tribes of Montana. He was a tribal elder at the time this collection guide was written.

This collection consists of a single letter written by Louis W. Adams and sent to Ellen Knight. In the letter Adams identifies a mountain and teepees pictured in a photograph, #72-12 held by the University of Montana's Archives, and relates a family story that took place at the same location, Mount Jumbo near Missoula, Montana. The location of the Indian encampment is now known as John H. Toole Park.
