Arthur Lakes reports, 14 March 1945-20 March1948

Arthur Lakes was a geologist, artist, writer, teacher, and Episcopalian minister. He was born 21 December 1844 in Martock, England. He is credited with deciphering the geology of Colorado and for his work as an economic geologist. He was a part time professor at the Colorado School of Mines. He edited multiple geological and mining journals and also worked as a mining engineer in partnership with his sons. He wrote various articles regarding mining in Idaho. They relocated from Colorado to Ymir, British Columbia in 1912. He died on 21 November 1917. He was inducted into the National Mining Hall of Fame in Leadville, Colorado in 2010 and the Arthur Lakes Library at the Colorado School of Mines is named after him. He had a son by the same name.
