Historical Note
Bingham Canyon, located southwest of Salt Lake City, was first settled in August 1848 by two Mormon pioneers, Thomas and Sanford Bingham. It was used for herding cattle, cutting timer, and later became famous for ore development, primarily by the Utah Copper Company, now owned by Kennecott Copper Company.

The Bingham Canyon collection (1930-1970s, 2016) consists of a large scrapbook and loose items detailing the activities surrounding mining and everyday life in Bingham Canyon, Utah. Included are news clippings, programs, correspondence, legal documents, notices, advertisements, meeting minutes, and other materials. The collection also includes a court record book detailing hundreds of court proceedings for the town of Bingham Canyon.
