Summary
William Dean Kendall (born 1914) worked for Pacific Telephone, was president of American Bank Building and ran for Portland city commissioner in 1974. He was a prolific writer of letters, most in protest of the rapid growth of government. Collection includes correspondence with Oregon senators and representatives, U.S. presidents, city and county officials, editors of the Oregonian newspaper, and various organizations and companies, primarily regarding taxes, inflation, and government size and spending. Also included is a scrapbook belonging to Kendall's mother, Annette D. Dean.

Biographical Note

William Dean Kendall was born in Oregon to Harry C. Kendall and Annette D. Dean in 1914. He married Lydia Christine Wood, daughter of Erskine and Rebecca Biddle Wood. He attended Stanford University, worked for Pacific Telephone, was president of American Bank Building and ran for Portland city commissioner in 1974. He was a prolific writer of letters, most in protest of the rapid growth of government.
