Content Description
Ernest Norling (1892-1974) was a Washington artist and art teacher. Nationally recognized, his murals appear at the University of Washington and the Washington State capitol building in Olympia; a painting (The Timber Bucker) was acquired for the White House by Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt. Norling and his wife, Josephine (Jo) Norling, produced twenty children’s books set in the Pacific Northwest, including Pogo’s Mining Trip: A Story of Gold (1945). This collection contains 24 original pen-and-ink drawings on cardboard for Pogo’s Mining Trip, two text mockups of the book’s dustjacket, a separate printed dustjacket, and one copy of the published book in dustjacket.
