James P. Martin was a photographer and a collector of historical materials dealing with Standard Oil Company and its founders, including the Flagler, Harkness, and Rockefeller families.
Content Description
The James P. Martin collection contains scrapbooks, manuscripts, photographs, and periodicals concerning Standard Oil Company and its founders, including the Flagler, Harkness, and Rockefeller families. The scrapbooks cover many aspects of the petroleum industry in the 19th and 20th centuries, including petroleum's uses and petroleum marketing. There is also content on places inhabited by the Rockefellers and other founding families, especially in Florida. There are photographs of people (including early 20th century cinema stars), places, and industrial activities. Also included are periodicals and other printed material published by Standard Oil Company and other oil companies.
