Historical Note
Hyrum Grant Vest, Jr. was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1935. He earned a PhD in plant pathology from the University of Minnesota and worked for the United States Department of Agriculture in Maryland, as a professor at Michigan State University, then as an administrator at Oklahoma State University, Texas A & M University and Utah State University. In addition, he served as associate director of the Utah Agricultural Experiment Station at Utah State University. After retiring at USU, Vest continued his support of education through Emeriti programs and establishing scholarships at USU. Dr. Vest passed away in 2021 at the age of 85.
Content Description
The Grant Vest papers is a collection of publications, correspondence, notes, papers, photographs, research, and specimen slides accrued by Dr. H. Grant Vest, Jr. From 1961 to 2000. The contents of this collection are related to Dr. Vest's work with the Plants, Soils, and Biometeorology department at Utah State University. This collection also includes various publications related to Grant Vest's research on plants sciences
