Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Harriet (also known as Hattie) Neergaard Jones was born to Richard Neergaard and Marietta Johnson in 1889 . She resided in Oakesdale, Washington and eventually married Stanley Ward Jones and bore one child, Leland Jones. Harriet's father, Richard Neergaard was a prominent political and legal figure in the Oakesdale community, serving as an attorney and at one point the Mayor of Oakesdale. Harriet Neergaard Jones died in 1971.
Content DescriptionReturn to Top
Consists of glass plate negatives and other types of negatives, totalling approximately 75-100 images that detail family life in Oakesdale, Washington from 1905-1918. Also contains copies of marriage license and copies of photos of Oakesdale Mayors.
It should be noted that nothing actually identifies the photographer here. However, the collection also came via a variety of (since discarded) developing chemicals, indicated these were created by a photographer rather than a collector. Where brand names or envelopes allowed dating, these chemicals were from 1906 to 1915. Mailing labels on these were addressed to Harriet Neegaard, leading to the assumption that she is the photographer.
