Historical Note

Paul W. Fairman (1909-1977) was an editor and science fiction writer. He published under various pseudonyms including Paula Fairman, Ivar Jorgensen, Janet Lovesmith, Paula Moore, F. W. Paul, and Paulette Warren. In 1958, Fairman accepted the job of managing editor for Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine. Five of Fairman’s science fiction short stories written in the 1950s were later adapted for film and TV, including “Deadly City,” “The Cosmic Frame,” and “Beast of the Void.” “The Cosmic Frame” was adapted into a movie called Invasion of the Saucer Men in 1957.
