The Amerada Petroleum Corporation formed in 1920 under Amerada Corporation. The company’s name in the mid-twentieth century was established when it merged with a subsidiary in 1941. Today, the corporation operated under the name Amerada Hess Corporation due to the merger that occurred with Hess Oil in 1969. Its headquarters are stationed in New York City.
