Biographical Note

Born in Mankato, MN, Deborah Ann Pehrson received her B.S. in Environmental Science with a concentration in Agriculture from WSU in 1981, and M.S. in Entomology in 2003. She was hired in 1983 as a Plant Technician II, with half her time dedicated to the Fairway Orchard (removed 1991) and R.B. Tukey Orchard, and in 1990 became farm / orchard manager for the WSU Horticulture Center and orchards until her retirement in January 2025.

Content Description

The collection consists of two reports on the history of the Washington State University farms / orchards. History of Orchard Plantings at or Near the WSC and WSU Pullman Campus 1902-2024 looks at the evolution of orchard work and the campus farm over the history of the school. The 1973-2024 Summary of Personnel and Orchard Plantings at the WSU Tukey Orchard and Horticulture Center is a year by year look at the people and crops from the creation of the Tukey site through to its removal to a new location.
