Biographical NoteReturn to Top
George Christian Riser was born February 10, 1849, in Salt Lake City to George Christian and Christiana Riser. His parents were with the second company of pioneers to enter the Salt Lake Valley in 1847. Riser is known as a Black Hawk Indian war veteran.
Zillah Jane Player Riser was born August 13, 1851, in a covered wagon near Lincoln, Nebraska, when her parents, William J. and Nancy Player, were emigrating to Utah. On December 25, 1871, she married George C. Riser. They had five sons and three daughters.
