Biographical Note

Stella Sameth was born in Lemberg, Austria/Poland in 1899. She migrated with her family to Calgary in 1905. In 1918 they moved to Seattle, and in 1920 she married James E. Sameth. After an early career as a journalist, in the late 1930s she began a long, successful career as a social worker for the Children's Division of the Washington State Welfare Department and later for the Superior Court Adoption Service.     Scope and Content: Reminiscences of Mrs. Sameth and of her cousin Morris Kleiner in 1974 and covering 1900-1940; transcription and translation of diary of Henry Noah Sereth, 1900-1904 (photocopies).
