Richard W. Alexander Papers, 1970-1995

Richard W. Alexander began teaching at The Evergreen State College in 1970. He received his BA from Emory University in 1956, and his MA from Tilan University in 1961 majoring in English. He then received a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois in 1966. Prior to teaching at Evergreen, he taught at San Jose State University and also Knox College. His focus at The Evergreen State College was on 17th and 18th century English literature; the philosophy of Thomas Hobbes; American Literature; Cultural Anthropology; Japanese Culture; Film history and aesthetics.
