Historical Note
Curnen was a pediatrician, medical researcher, and professor of medicine. He received his M.D. from Harvard 1935 and held positions in pediatrics and infectious disease research at hospitals in Boston, New York, and New Haven, Connecticut. Curnen taught medicine at Yale University from 1946-1952 and at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons, from which he retired in 1974.

Collection contains subject files chiefly related to pediatric medicine and infectious diseases (1912-1982); correspondence (1946-1978); notebooks on disease studies; manuscripts of medical articles; notes; reprints by Curnen and others; speeches; newspaper and magazine clippings; and miscellaneous other materials.
