Historical Note
Charlotte Hearne Davis (1939-) was the Assistant Dean of Women and Associate Director of Student Affairs at the University of Wyoming. Born in Hanna, Wyoming on February 29, 1939, she moved with her family to Laramie in 1954 and graduated from Laramie High School in 1957. Davis earned a bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Wyoming in 1960 and later received a master’s degree in counselor education from the same institution in 1964. Her early career included teaching and counseling roles in California before returning to Laramie in 1966 to begin a 34-year career at the University of Wyoming. She advised multiple student organizations including ASUW, the Panhellenic Council, and Mortar Board, and served for over 40 years as chapter advisor to Tri Delta Fraternity. Throughout her tenure, she held various leadership roles in student life and was recognized with several honors, including being named “Top Prof” by the Mortar Board, serving as Grand Marshal of the UW Homecoming Parade in 2000, and receiving the UW Medallion Service Award in 2023. She retired in 2000, and two scholarships were established in her name: the Charlotte H. Davis Scholarship and the Charlotte H. Davis Leadership Fund.
