Historical Note
The Northwest Renewable Resources Center was established in 1984 by a group of people representing the corporate, tribal, environmental and government sectors of the region. Services included conflict assessment, process design, dialogue facilitation, mediation and training in cross-cultural communications. The organization, which was disbanded in January 1998, mediated natural resource and environmental policy disputes in Washington, Idaho, Alaska and Oregon.
Content Description
Board of Directors records, Advisory Committee agenda and minutes, reports, correspondence, project files, one videotape cassette, diskettes, lists, newsletters. Records document the history of the organization and several projects it undertook during the period, including: Joint Management Project (1984-1986); Forest Practices Act Review - Alaska (1988-1989); Water Antidegradation Policy - Idaho (1988-1989); Wildlife Depredation Project - Idaho (1989); Timber/Fish/Wildlife - Washington (1986-1991); Cedar River Management Project - Washington (1989-1990); Water Resources Planning Process - Washington (1990-1992); Water '95 - Washington (1994); Solid Waste Network - Washington, Oregon, Idaho (1990-1997); and Small Forest Landowners Project - Washington (1994-1997).
Seventh American Forest Congress records represent a small but significant subgroup.
