Biographical Note

Editor, businessman in Washington and Alaska.

Charles Garfield was born in 1867, and was most identified with the fur trade and industry. He was the editor of "Fur Journal," 1934-1950; and served as the collector of customs at Nome, Alaska. Garfield was involved with the Seattle Chamber of Commerce's Alaska Bureau, 1925-1934; the American National Western Division Fox Show, 1928-1930; Artic Alaska Fur Corporation, 1925-1931; Madrona-Denny Blaine Club, 1931-1933; Seattle Mining Club, 1931-1933; Washington State Fur Dealers Association, 1932-1955; West Coast Mineral Associaiton,1934; Puget Sound Fox and Fur Farmers Association, 1927-1949; and Northwest Fur Breeders Cooperative, 1947. He died in 1961.
