- Milton Roswell Trenam (1882-1937) and his son Milton Edwin "Ned" Trenam, Jr. (1905-1996) were engineers who worked in dam design and construction in the American West in the twentieth century. The Milton Roswell and Milton Edwin Trenam photograph collection contains photographs documenting their careers in dam building as well as Ned Trenim's military service in World War II.

Biographical Note
Milton Roswell Trenam (1882-1937) was born on March 9, 1882, in South Dakota to John James and Eliza Elvira Yeamans Trenam. He earned an engineering degree from the University of South Dakota and worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs as a construction engineer. Milton Trenam worked on dams throughout the western United States, including designing the model for the Coolidge Dam. Milton married Flora Lucille Wilcox (1884-1967) on November 23, 1904, in Salt Lake City. The couple had two children: Milton Edwin Trenam, Jr. (1905-1996) and Johannah Ruth Trenam (1906-1964). Milton Roswell Trenam died in 1937.
Milton Edwin “Ned” Trenam was born on September 18, 1905. He graduated from the University of Utah School of Engineering in 1931. He worked on dam construction, including the Echo and Vallecito dams. Trenam served in World War II as a captain in the field artillery. His duties included supervising Italian and German Prisoners of War. Ned Trenam died in 1996.
Content Description
The Milton Roswell and Milton Edwin Trenam photograph collection consists of 2 boxes containing 1,071 black-and-white photographs depicting Milton and Ned Trenam's careers in engineering, particularly dam construction. The collection also contains images of Milton Edwin Trenam's military service during World War II. The collection spans the 1900s to the 1950s.
