Historical Note
Richard “Jack” Bowers Jr. was a football player for the University of Wyoming Cowboys. He grew up in Jackson, Tennessee where he played football at Jackson High School and graduated in 1949. Jack attended the University of Wyoming as a member of the Wyoming Cowboys football team that won the 1950 Skyline Conference championship and defeated Washington and Lee University in the Gator Bowl. Jack served as a Lieutenant in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. When he finished his service in 1966, Jack moved back to Tennessee to join the Merrill Lynch brokerage firm for 37 years as an account executive and later, partner. In 1994 he was inducted into the Cowboy Hall of Fame. Jack retired in 2001 and passed away in January of 2014.

This collection contains memorabilia from Jack Bowers Jr.’s time as a football player for the University of Wyoming Cowboys. It contains a blanket, jersey, jacket, sign and game programs for the Gator Bowl game in 1951.
