- The papers of Mary DuPree, Professor of Musicology at the University of Idaho, who taught at in the School of Music from 1971 to 2008. She was founder and director of the U of I Auditorium Chamber Music Series from 1986 to 2017. Her published research was on the reception of American music in the 1920s, jazz, and the teaching of music history. Another major subject of research for DuPree during her tenure was the history of community bands in Idaho from the 1870s to 1930. This collection consists of her research papers, including notes, copies of historic newspaper stories, historic photos, and publications.

Historical Note
Mary Herron DuPree was born into a musical family, which influenced her choice to become a musicologist. She began teaching at the University of Idaho in 1971. She studies music through the lenses of history, theory, and aesthetics. DuPree's research was initially focused on Renaissance music but later expanded to include American and contemporary styles. When DuPree retired in 2008 she was given the title of Emeritus Professor.

Collection includes personal research notes written by DuPree or research assistants, copies of historic newspaper articles related to community band performances, copies of reference materials, reproductions of historic photos of community bands, and copies of publications by DuPree.
