Content Description
The Green River collection contains 38 prints of different views along the Green River, several of which are mentioned in John Wesley Powell's History of the Exploration of the Colorado River of the West and its Tributaries. They were taken around the turn of the century by a photographer named Stark from Helper, Utah. The collection also contains copies of four prints by E.O. Beaman from the second expedition of 1871. (See Frederick Dellenbaugh, A Canyon Voyage, 1926.)
NOTE: From Colorado Riverbed Case microfilm, page 5283, it was determined that the photographer was Isaac W. Stark, who was accompanying Wolverton in the boat WILMONT.
