Historical NoteReturn to Top

Henry Wallace (1840-1932) was born in in 1840, in Frome, Somersetshire, England to John and Elizabeth Ashley Wallace. A convert to the LDS Church, he came to Utah in 1862 with the Ansel Harmon company. In 1863, he married Ellen Harper (1837-1917), and together they had eight chidren. The family lived in Salt Lake City, where Henry Wallace worked as a manager of the National Biscuit Company, as well as a confectioner and baker. He was also a school trustee and a city councilman. In the L.D.S. Church, Henry Walllace served as a president of the 23rd quorum seventies, a bishops counselor in the 7th ward, and was a member of the Pioneers Stake.

The Henry Wallace family papers contain his diaries, correspondence, postcards, printed material, and cards.
