- This collection contains materials kept by Barry Rosenberg related to the Inland Empire Public Lands Council and the Forest Watch program. The Forest Watch program in Northern Idaho and Washington was committed to protecting and conserving forests by conducting research, filing appeals, increasing public understanding of public lands and forests, and filing appeals on timber sales and logging. Miscellaneous papers, newspaper clippings, research materials, reports, appeals, and personal correspondence make up the bulk of this collection.

This collection contains materials related to Forest Watch program. Barry Rosenberg, the director of the Forest Watch program, worked closely with John Osborn of the Inland Empire Public Lands Council.
Historical NoteReturn to Top
Barry Rosenberg, a long time resident of Sandpoint and Priest Lake, was hired in the early 1990s by the Inland Empire Public Lands Council to direct the Forest Watch program in Northern Idaho. Barry, a colleague and friend of Dr. John Osborn of the IEPLC, both became advocates for forest conservation efforts in the inland northwest. Rosenberg became a well-known figure in the environmental conservation community and filed many appeals on behalf of the public for illegal timber sales. Rosenberg passed away at the age of 79 in 2022.
