Content Description

Tape-recorded interview conducted by Howard Droker and covering the period ca. 1903-1981.

Glazer describes growing up in Bellingham, his Jewish education there and his family's membership in Beth Israel and other Jewish organizations. He came to Seattle in 1929 looking for work and after working at J. Warshal and Sons in the camera department, he started Clyde's Camera in 1935 with Clyde Levy. He talks about his active participation in Herzl-Ner Tamid Congregation and about helping to revive the congregation in the late 1940's. He describes the rabbis Samuel Penner and Joseph Wagner, and their work. He relates starting a new branch of Herzl on the east side, the founding of Ner Tamid Congregation in Bellevue, and the Congregation's long succession of short-term rabbis.
