Content Description

The 18 photographs in this collection, taken by an unknown photographer, are of the Montana Territorial Centennial Celebration Parade in Washington D.C., April 16, 1964. The parade was in conjunction with the Montana Territorial Centennial Train tour of 16 cities across the United States ending at the World’s Fair in New York. The tour train had 25 cars and carried 300 Montana residents and contained many exhibits on the history, wildlife, recreation and industry of Montana. These black and white photographs highlight the parade portion of that tour showing the horses, wagons, Native Americans and even a full-sized mounted bison as part of the procession. This collection does not include any photographs of the Centennial Train.
