Historical Note
R.S. (Rensselar Schuyler) Van Tassell was a Wyoming landowner and cattleman in Niobrara County. He was also the namesake for Van Tassell, Wyoming. Van Tassell, Wyoming was founded, when the Fremont, and Missouri Valley Railroad arrived in 1886 and because Van Tassell owned the land surrounding the area where a stop-off was needed, the railroad named the town after him.
