Biographical Note
Anna Browne came to Spokane Falls, W.T. with her husband John J. Browne, in 1878. She reared a large family in what is now Browne’s Addition in Spokane. As the city grew, so did the wealth and social prestige of the Browne family. Both J.J. Browne and Anna were prolific correspondents (see collection 21). She continued to manage her husband’s business after his death.
