      This set of conga drums was used by Dizzy Gillespie at the Montreux-Detroit Jazz Festival and then gifted to J.C. Heard on May 4, 1987. ("Guernsey's Jazz Auction Catalog Addendum." Feb. 16, 2005, page 12. Jazz At Lincoln Center, New York). Purchased at the Guernsey auction by Russell H. Vansant and donated to the IJC, in 2005.

    • Description: A four foot long rhythm stick inscribed with the name on the haft: Dizzy Gillespie.
      This 'stick cymbal' was used by Dizzy Gillespie and then gifted to J.C. Heard after a concert in Detroit, Michigan, in 1968. ("Guernsey's Jazz Auction Catalog Addendum." Feb. 16, 2005, page 12. Jazz At Lincoln Center, New York). Purchased at the Guernsey auction by Russell H. Vansant and donated to the IJC, in 2005.
