Historical Note

Soroptimist International is a global volunteer movement that works at a local, national, and international level to educate, empower, and enable opportunities for woman and girls. Soroptimist International of Laramie was first chartered on July 8, 1943 by Soroptimist International of Ogden, Utah. The Laramie club sponsored the chartering of two additional clubs: Rawlins on December 8, 1951 and Casper on April 15, 1946. It also hosted the Rocky Mountain Region Conference on April 12-14, 1946 and the Northern Wyoming area meeting on October 21, 1955. The Club disbanded on June 29, 1959. On March 9, 1975 Soroptimist International of Laramie was re-chartered at the Holiday Inn by Soroptimist international of Worland with 23 members.

Content Description

Collection contains yearly records summaries from 1980-2014 covering budgets, meeting minutes, membership, reports, correspondence, publications, and events. The records also include the 1975 charter, bylaws, event files about Casino Night and Laramie Laughs, scrapbooks, publications, and artifacts that include a sign, patches, pins, and a bell.
