Historical Note

Ronald W. Marrs was a hydrologist and geographer. He graduated with a B.A. in geography and ecosystems from UCLA and later went on to complete his Ph.D. in geography in 1980 at Oregon State University. While he was an assistant professor at the University of Texas, he became a certified hydrologist in 1984. Marrs went on to work at multiple universities including the University of Wyoming (1986-1999), Oklahoma State University (1999-2005), and Kansas State University (2005- ), where he taught multiple classes at both the graduate and undergraduate level. He also oversaw a multitude of thesis and dissertation projects on remote sensing, hydrology, and geography. Marrs was particularly interested in applying remote sensing techniques to his studies of geomorphology and applied physical geography.

This collection contains aerial photography on aerographic duplicating film from U2 missions, Skylab, and Apollo 8 of the Earth from high altitude, articles, conference programs and papers, and graduate student theses from Marrs’ time at the University of Wyoming.
