Historical NoteReturn to Top
Paul Melrose, son of missionary parents, was born in Hainan, China and educated in the United States. In 1916 he and his wife, Esther Agnew Melrose, came to Hainan as missionaries of the Presbyterian Church, stationed at Nodoa. They were in Hainan, with interruptions, to 1944.

Collection includes minor correspondence, manuscripts written by Esther or Paul Melrose, miscellaneous articles, booklets, newsletters, and nine diaries for 1932-1937, 1941, 1942, and 1949 which record daily events, expenses, weather, etc.
