Historical Note

Philip Ketchum began selling his western, adventure, and crime stories to pulp magazines in the 1930s – especially Argosy. Ketchum eventually began to write western exclusively in the 1950s and 1960s. His stories were known for their realism, exceptional character development, and inclusion of bold and freethinking women in important character roles.
