Historical Note
Homer Reid operated the Busy Bee Corner Drugstore in Telluride, Colorado, in the 1960s. He owned a collection of negatives showing the Telluride area in earlier years.
Content Description
The Homer Reid photographs are prints from negatives created between circa 1900 and circa 1920. The majority of the images are stamped with the name Byers. They depict the towns of Telluride and Ophir; the Smuggler-Union and Tomboy Mines; Smuggler-Union Mill; Primos Chem Company Mine and Mill; Alta, Black Bear, and Keystone Mines; Bridal Veil Lake; Ophir Needles; Marshall and Savage Basins; and other scenes in the area of western San Miguel County, Colorado. Scenes in Telluride include Miners Union Hospital, Cosmopolitan Saloon, images taken during the 1903 strike, Mule Skinners Ball Committee, and the visit of William Jennings Bryan in 1903.

Gressley, a former director of the American Heritage Center, in 1965 in the course of editing Bostonians and Bullion: The Journal of Robert Livermore, 1892-1915. Some photographs were previously recorded as part of the Robert Livermore papers.
