Historical Note

Ralph K. Davies (1897-1971) served as Deputy Petroleum Administrator for War during World War II. Davies worked for Standard Oil of California between 1912 and 1946 and then transitioned to work for American Independent Oil Co. from 1947 to 1958. Between 1952 and 1971, he acted as chairman of the Board of American President Lines.
