Historical Note
Hannon Library received the core collection material in 1997. Subsequent additions to the collection include four programs from 1921-1922 New York productions; 11 programs of mid-1980s London productions; and inserts from volumes of the drama book club Fireside Theatre titled Curtain Time.
Content Description
This collection consists primarily of theater playbills and programs from plays (including musical plays) for Southern California and New York City productions, with other U.S. and European productions also represented. Many of the programs were published through the journals Playbill and The Playgoer (Hollywood, Los Angeles, Calif.). The collection also includes single journal issues. The Fireside Theatre inserts are promotional material that describes plays published by the book club and accompanied volumes of unrelated titles.
