Historical Note

Gerald M. Adams graduated from the United States Naval War College in 1961. He received a B.A. in History from the University of Maryland in 1971 and an M.A. in History from the University of Wyoming in 1981. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War. His last posting was to F.E. Warren Air Force Base (1976-1978). After retiring from the Air Force Adams wrote books and articles about military history and early aviation in Wyoming. Among his writings were "The Post Near Cheyenne, A History of Fort D.A Russell, 1867-1930" (1989); "Fort Francis E. Warren and the Quartermaster Corps"; a history of the Casper Army Air Base; and "Bells of Balangiga" (1991).

Content Description

The Gerald M. Adams papers contain publications by Adams and research for his writings on Wyoming aviation, Wyoming military history, and Air Force war veterans. Included are oral histories with World War II-era Wyoming veterans that were stationed at either Casper Army Air Base or F.E. Warren Air Force Base.
